About Pathway Plumbing Service

Carrying a legacy of service

‘Uncle’ Ricky Morris is a proud Gunditjmara man and a descendant of the Lovett family, a part of the long standing warrior tradition that gave rise to the name fighting Gunditjmara. Five Lovett brothers left Lake Condah Mission to serve in World War I, and four returned to serve again in World War II. Their courage set a family standard for service, with 21 Lovett men and women representing Australia in major conflicts from the Pacific Theatre to Afghanistan.

Ricky served for more than 20 years in the Australian Defence Force with multiple deployments. That time shaped how he works, with discipline, accountability, and a focus on looking after people.

After service, a new mission

Leaving the military, Ricky turned to what he knew best, his trade. He saw that plumbing could be a vehicle for change, giving people more than just a job - it offered a recognised skill and a steady wage that could support families and strengthen communities.

He founded Pathway Plumbing Service (PPS) to do two things at once: deliver reliable commercial plumbing projects and open doors for First Nations apprentices and tradespeople through real mentoring and training on live projects.

How PPS delivers

Today, PPS operates as a trusted commercial plumbing contractor delivering projects across a wide range of sectors. The team is experienced in managing large-scale work, pricing with accuracy, planning with clarity, and handing over cleanly from first quote through to aftercare.

Each project stands on its own merit, but it also serves a broader purpose. Every job is a place to teach, qualify, and progress First Nations talent, building long careers while meeting the standard clients expect.

Vision

Strong careers, and stronger communities, built through the industry.

This is the outcome we work toward with every hire, every apprentice and every project delivered.

Mission

Hire, train and mentor First Nations talent, deliver quality projects, and partner locally to grow long term capacity.

Measured through jobs, training milestones, retention and community impact.

Mentoring the next generation of Indigenous tradespeople

PPS commits to a defined, supported pathway - from work-ready, to apprentice, to licensed tradesperson. We pair paid site experience with structured training and cultural mentoring so people progress with clarity and support.

As skills and qualifications grow, so does the impact: stable income, capability and role models that lift families and strengthen communities.

Through our trusted partnership with Cooke & Dowsett Plumbing Group, PPS has more ways to deliver. Since 2021, PPS and Cooke & Dowsett Plumbing Group have delivered projects together and built a strong working relationship based on shared values – mentoring, capability building and culturally safe workplaces. Building on that success, PPS joined the Cooke & Dowsett Plumbing Group.

Membership gives PPS additional delivery options without losing our identity or focus. When the job needs it, we can draw on group resources for prefabrication, estimating and program support, WHSEQ systems, and scalable teams – while PPS leadership and mentoring remain front and centre.
