PPS was subcontracted by Kane Construction to complete hydraulic works for the Docklands Studios Melbourne expansion, which saw the construction of Sound Stage 6, a state-of-the-art $46 million facility designed to increase the studio’s capacity by 60%.

At 3,700 square meters, this addition stands as one of the largest sound stages in the Southern Hemisphere, poised to attract major international film and TV productions to Victoria.

The facility is equipped with a 900,000-litre water tank, providing significant flexibility to cater to a wider range of production needs. The design complements the existing studio infrastructure while contributing to the growth of Victoria’s vibrant screen industry, which plays a key role in creating local jobs and boosting the state’s economy.

Completed in 2021, the construction of Sound Stage 6 was delivered with minimal disruption to the studio’s ongoing operations. PPS’s hydraulic works were a critical component in ensuring the facility’s efficient operation, supporting the studio’s capacity to meet the needs of high-profile productions.
