North East Link
PPS was subcontracted by CPB Contractors to assist with the hydraulic works on the North East Link (NEL) project, Victoria’s largest road infrastructure development. As part of the Spark consortium, which includes world-leading construction companies, PPS contributed to the delivery of the Primary Package, a project designed to connect the M80 with the Eastern Freeway, linking key growth areas in Melbourne’s north and south-east. The project includes significant upgrades to the Eastern Freeway, the construction of a dedicated Doncaster Busway, and more than 25 kilometers of new cycling and walking paths, along with enhancements to local community facilities.
The $11.1 billion project, delivered under an innovative four-partner public-private partnership, also addresses key environmental and community considerations. The design incorporates longer tunnels, simplified interchanges, and expansive parklands, as well as a new green bridge and wetlands along the Yarra River and Koonung Creek.
PPS’s hydraulic systems play a vital role in supporting these developments, ensuring that the infrastructure and environmental features of the North East Link are both functional and sustainable.
